Week 3

Happy Monday!

This week we're going to master:
Abstract, concrete, proper, and common nouns.
Simple and compound sentences, subjects and predicates.

Tonight is Back to School Night from 6:30-8:30. Extra credit will be awarded to those whose parents attend!


Homework: a list of as many abstract nouns as you can think of. (You should be able to get at least 15).

Week 2

This week we're discussing the importance of education (87% of college graduates were employed in 2005, compared to only 55% of people without a high school diploma) while beginning our real grammar work.

We're spending a day and a half doing diagnostic testing- which will help me see exactly which skills we need to work on to help everyone improve their writing.

SHOUT OUT to 4B and 5B for doing an EXCELLENT job yesterday!!!!

Hello seventh-graders and families!

I am SO excited to get to know you all and work with you this year in English. The work will be hard, but it will not be in vain. Those of you who had me last year know, I expect a lot of my students. Your hard work is the key to your success this year in this class-- and on the iLEAP in the Spring.

This blog will be periodically updated to keep you informed about what we're doing in class. It will sometimes showcase YOUR projects, and will also feature useful links, tips, and tools for you to use.

Here are the supplies I expect all students to have by the first week of school:

2 folders with brads and pockets

1 spiral or composition notebook

1 pencil pouch

pens (blue or black) and pencils

erasers

notebook paper

one pack of index cards
one pack of post-its
